Many good resorts in Phu Quoc are located on the western coast of the island. A few popular ones are on the southern tip which is closer to the Phu Quoc Cable Car. The eastern coast has barely any resort. And that is because a good bit of it is covered by the huge Phu Quoc National Park, a great place for hiking.

The Vinpearl Resort & Spa was one of the main reasons we decided to spend a few glorious days in Phu Quoc. And that was because we had heard great things about hospitality at Vinpearl. We were not disappointed.

Vinpearl is located on the Bai Dai beach in Phu Quoc and is exemplary of elegance and luxury. You can choose to rest in your gracefully-styled room, relax at the luxurious spa, take a dip in the huge swimming pool, or sun lounge at the private beach. Or taste some of the most amazing local and international cuisines on the island. Even better, spend the day at the inhouse water park. Vinpearl will spoil you for choices.

We stayed here for 4 complete days out of which we spent a couple just exploring the resort and the Vinpearland theme park. I had some of the most amazing Malay and Thai food during my stay here. Vinpearl Resort & Spa is definitely one of the best resorts in Phu Quoc. I would stay here again.

A gorgeous swimming pool at Green Bay | One of the best resorts in Phu Quoc

When your day starts with a floating breakfast in your private infinity pool, and your only appointment that day is with the spa, you know you’re on to a good thing. A friend and I were on a ‘mumcation’ (no kids or partners), and our stay at Green Bay Resort, towards the end of our South Vietnam itinerary, was just what we needed.

Nestled into the lush hills, overlooking the Gulf of Thailand is a range of luxury accommodations; from garden view bungalows to three-bed oceanfront villas with a private pool. Sympathetic to their lush surroundings, these accommodations have been built with natural and sustainably-sourced materials, with wood furnishing created by local craftsmen, yet you can still expect those modern amenities typical of a luxury resort;  think outdoor bathtubs and rain showers, ridiculously comfortable king-size beds, and excellent free WiFi.

There are two restaurants on-site, both with large swimming pools, and there’s also a private beach. If you feel like you need to adjust your horizontal lounging position, there are a handful of activities on offer. Snorkel gear, kayaks, and bikes are available free of charge for all guests. There are also complimentary morning yoga classes.

JW Marriott | One of the most highly rated resorts in Phu Quoc

Have you ever traveled to another country for the sole purpose of visiting a certain hotel?  Well, that is exactly what I did when I went to Phu Quoc, Vietnam. I had heard about an amazing hotel, the JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa, and simply had to check it out.  Fashioned after an old University, Lamark University, it is equal parts fantasy, beauty, and creativity.

From the minute I stepped out of the taxi, I was in awe. From the creative dressing of the people who work at the hotel to the design of the buildings, it is an experience that leaves you with an open mouth.  It is like being transported to the world of Harry Potter or some other magical place.

For under $300 you can stay in this beautiful hotel and enjoy the most amazing breakfast buffet I’ve ever had.  Plan on multiple activity options including lantern making, kayaking, yoga, paddle boarding, and bicycle riding.

Yes, I went to Vietnam because I wanted to check out this hotel. It did not disappoint. Instead, it left me willing to make that long flight again simply for the excuse to stay in the JW Marriott at Phu Quoc again.  It is hands down, my favorite hotel in the world!

The blue world of Novotel | One of the must-stay resorts in Phu Quoc

Phu Quoc, the pearl island, is best enjoyed by the beach behind the majestic palm trees with views of waves crashing and a magnificent sunset.
Novotel is a luxury property on the beachside with rooms and private beach facing villas. The villas have their own private swimming pools and are the best way to pamper yourself. The friendly staff takes care of all your needs from even arranging a private barbeque dinner at your villa. Voila!

The breakfast buffet spread is huge and has so many options that you would be making multiple rounds. And if you are a seafood lover, don’t miss the specialty seafood restaurant with exquisite choices.
The resort is beautiful and well maintained with greenery and ponds filled with colorful lilies and hammocks that make your soul happy.
There is no dearth of activities for all ages with a spa, fitness center, tennis court, two swimming pools and even an indoor play area for kids. How can you feel bored here? If this doesn’t fit your choice, then just head over the beach to relax.

For families, the visit to Vinpearl Parks becomes convenient with buses that ply for free in the morning and evening. An exotic property, friendly staff, and the white beaches will etch a beautiful memory in your heart that will last forever.

Thatched bungalows at the Peppercorn Beach Resort | One of the best resorts to stay in Phu Quoc

Peppercorn Beach Resort is a family-run boutique resort located on the tranquil northern shores of Phu Quoc island, offering a truly unique experience right on the beach. Thatched bungalows are actually on the beach, just a few meters from the sea, and are very comfortably furnished. Each bungalow has an outdoor patio area complete with deck chairs. The resort also boasts a swimming pool alongside the beach. Free kayaks and mountain bikes are also provided if you fancy being more energetic!

The staff at this family-run hotel are excellent – nothing is too much trouble. The food is another highlight. Breakfasts are large and beautifully prepared. Lunches and dinners are excellent, made from local fresh ingredients, with a mix of Vietnamese and Western dishes. We loved the fresh spring rolls, as well as the freshly caught fish and seafood. There’s also free cocktails every day in the afternoon!

  1. I have not been to Vietnam yet, but will keep Phu Quoc in mind whenever I visit there. All these resorts look beautiful and perfect places to spend a relaxing vacation. Its a real great job that you have collated the important infos in the Quick Help Box. The Peppercorn Resort looks great though.

    1. Yes, the Peppercorn is a good one. And thanks for noticing the help boxes. Since Phu Quoc is big and you can travel only by road, it makes a lot of sense to know how much to commute.

  2. I haven’t been to Phu Quoc but this post has convinced me to plan a trip soon. I really liked the selection of hotels in Phu Quoc & their stunning locations. My all time favorite brand is JW Marriott & I would like to Experience my stay there.

  3. I have traveled Asia extensively but for some reason have missed out on Vietnam unfortunately. This post is surely one I will bookmark as I am planning to travel here next year. It is good to know that Phu Quoc Vietnam has some great hospitality. Going though your list the one which appeals to me the most is Vinpearl Resort & Spa which looks like the perfect place to relax and spend a few days. Its seems to have a lot of activities which would be perfect for the kids. The Novotel looks good as well but rather than a chain I would like to try out something local and different . They all look perfect for spending time here so thanks fro spoiling us with choice,

    1. Vinpearl is definitely a great choice. And yes, it has tonnes of activities for kids. That was we chose this place too.

  4. I have been to Vietnam many times but for some reason I didn’t visit the Phu quoc yet and now I know what I missed, I love your list of the resorts and if I would love to consider one of them when ever I happen to travel back to Vietnam to visit Phu Quoc.

  5. Vietnam is on my list for a long time. It will be my next destination in Asia, probably. Your article is interesting. Its an excellent accommodation guide for Phu Quoc. A lot of detailed information important during travel planning. If I could choose, I would stay at Green Bay Phu or Peppercorn Beach Resort. They are in my style. I will use your recommendations when we start planning our trip to Vietnam.

  6. Vietnam is still on our travel wish list. So good to see the kinds of places we may want to stay if we visit Phu Quoc. The Vinpearl Spa and Resort might tempt us to just relax for a few days. Although the smaller Green Bay resort with a private infinity pool would work too. Even if it is not as large and located with a beach view like the Novotel. What a great variety of accommodation options you provided. Something for everyone.

  7. I was in Vietnam many years ago, and highly regret not visiting Phu Quoc. You’ve listed some wonderful resorts to stay here, it’s definitely making me feel I need to return! Of the 5, I think I’d most like to stay at Peppercorn Beach. I love that rustic thatched roof and it looks so inviting!

  8. We are visiting Vietnam in a couple of months, but not sure yet whether we’ll hit Phu Quoc or not. But I love your photos of the natural beauty. All the resorts you suggest look great but I’m drawn most to peppercorn beach, with the homely style, and smaller scale, and I love that it’s family run.

    1. Peppercorn is a great choice. And I agree it has the home feeling to it. What better than having a home right on the beach. Hope you get to visit Phu Quoc and see all the nature for yourself.

  9. I havent been to Vietnam yet but I when I do I hope to be in Phu Quoc with my family. I am going to choose my favourite from this list as they all look amazing and I want to stay in each one if I could. I could see myself relaxing at the pool in the Novetel all day being lazy. As a constant on the go type person, I need trips like this to just unwind and get away from all the stress.
