6 Best Cesky Krumlov Viewpoints
Seminary Garden

The Seminary Garden, or Seminarni zahrada, is a terrace garden (initially designed for the city’s seminary) that overlooks the castle, the beautiful castle tower, and the red-roofed houses of Cesky Krumlov. Located right next to the Regional Museum, this picturesque spot offers one of the most peaceful and panoramic views of Cesky Krumlov.
The Seminary Garden is the perfect location to take photos during golden hours as the sunlight washes over the castle and the town below. It was one of my favorite spots in Cesky Krumlov—I went there nearly 5-6 times during my 2-day stay—and it was super close to Pension Krumau, where I was staying.
The Seminary Garden is the first viewpoint inside Cesky Krumlov Old Town that you’ll encounter as you enter the city from the direction of the bus stop. There’s no way you can or should miss this.
Cloak Bridge

The Cloak Bridge (Plášťový Most) is one of the most popular viewing points in Cesky Krumlov. Therefore, it is pretty busy during the day! But come early morning, you’ll find the place to yourself.
The Cloak Bridge is part of the castle complex. It is a multi-level bridge that was once used as a secret passage for royalty. Now, it is one of the most photographed locations in Cesky Krumlov.
Honestly, the views are absolutely Instagram-worthy. From here, you can marvel at the Vltava River and the charming town and its colorful facades flanking the riverside. The tall and impressive spire of St. Vitus Church makes your photos pop.
As you walk ahead a little, you will see beautiful views of the town through the crenels of the fort wall, which make for an interesting photo opportunity.
Patio Ahead of Cloak Bridge

As you walk a bit ahead from the Cloak Bridge, beyond the fort crenels, you’ll find a small patio that offers mesmerizing views of Cesky Krumlov.
The view from the patio extends over a significant portion of Cesky Krumlov, capturing the iconic red roofs alongside the towering spire of St. Vitus Church and the beautiful Cesky Krumlov Castle Tower, with the Vltava River meandering in between. Not many Cesky Krumlov viewpoints offer a view of both the Castle Tower and St. Vitus Church, making this a unique feature.
We found this spot to be even more crowded than the Cloak Bridge, especially during the day. But come here in the early morning or late afternoon hours, and you’ll find it quite empty. There’s a cafe here—order a coffee and sit down for a relaxing evening.
Castle Tower

The Castle Tower is my absolute favorite for enjoying the best views of Cesky Krumlov. It is the best because it rewards you with a 360-degree panoramic view of the town, river, and surrounding countryside. Cannot get better than this!
Sadly, I did not see many pictures from the top of the Castle Tower when I was planning my trip. That’s because not many people climb the tower.
- But let me tell you—it is one of the easiest towers to climb in Europe. It has around 160 steps, including the 30 that you need to climb first to reach the ticket office, so basically, that splits the steps into 30 and 130.
- It’s a spiral staircase, but there is ample space for two (or even three) people to stand on every step. The stairway is not claustrophobic at all, unlike some of the other ones that I have climbed in Rothenburg, Germany, and Belem, Portugal.
The views from the top of Cesky Krumlov are unparalleled and surpass any other viewpoint in the city.
The only negative is that there is a small fee to climb the tower but trust me, the views are totally worth it.
Viewpoint on the Way to the Cesky Krumlov Bus Station

If you’re arriving in/leaving Cesky Krumlov by bus or happen to be heading toward the bus station, pause for one last magical view of the town. The viewpoint along this route is slightly elevated, offering a panoramic vista that captures the beauty of this medieval town. The medieval castle, the colorful facades, and the lush green hills come to life here.
This is an often-overlooked viewpoint, making it a hidden gem for travelers eager to escape crowds while still soaking in the stunning landscape.
Views from a River Cruise

For a unique perspective, hop onto a wooden raft river cruise along the Vltava River. Looking up at the town’s historic architecture and castle from the river alongside interesting insights from your local tour guide provides an entirely new way to appreciate Cesky Krumlov’s beauty.
River cruises offer a peaceful retreat from the bustling streets while giving you the chance to see Cesky Krumlov from angles you wouldn’t get on land. The views of the surrounding greenery against the town’s old-world charm are mesmerizing.
