Exploring The Ancient City Of Polonnaruwa Sri Lanka

Polonnaruwa, an ancient capital city of Sri Lanka’s Sinhalese Empire, was once the epitome of art and culture. It was home to the sacred tooth relic of Buddha apart from being the site of one of the largest Buddhist universities of the medieval era. And it was home to 4 iconic Buddha statues that form the pilgrimage site of Gal Vihara today.

Apart from all this wonderful history, there was one special thing that drew me to Polonnaruwa. One special connection that took me back to my roots in Odisha. Click to find out what it was and read my travel story for Polonnaruwa Sri Lanka.
